Ultra-violet light (or 'UV') is present even when it’s not sunny, and protection is needed on both clear lenses and sunglasses. UV damage accumulates over a lifetime. It can speed up the ageing of the eyes, and promote the development of cataracts and other serious conditions.
Blue-violet light is transmitted by the sun, and everyday objects like LED light bulbs, smartphones and computers.
It can lead to long-term damage to the eyes, and accelerate the onset of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
When out in bright sunshine, you should always wear sunglasses with a high E-SPF* (Eye Sun Protection Factor) to block UV rays. Ultra-violet and blue-violet light is also prevalent on your everyday clear lenses and therefore it's advisable to filter out harmful rays with "no glare" lenses.
